FAMILY TIES

Change is one of the constants in our lives.  This is true in our faith.  This message series which should remind you of the 1980s sitcom with Michael J. Fox, is a response to Bishop Fabbro’s decision to form a “family of parishes” with St. John the Divine and St. George Parishes.

Yet it goes deeper than that, as we move forward to form this one family, working together to help build the kingdom, this extends to everything we do within our family, school and work.  The bonds that we have to take care of one another are strong.  Through the gift of our baptism, we are called to share, support and love one another.  We are better and stronger together—more than ever when left on our own.  Let’s build strong family ties!!

WEEK #1 – FAMILY TIES

Fr. John begins this series looking at the 6 Guiding Principles of the transition to the “family of parishes” for St. John the Divine and St. George.  This journey is bringing both parishes together sharing their gifts, talents and abilities to help build the Kingdom of God and to serve the faithful better.  This process will be guided by the Holy Spirit commitment to the needs of all the faithful.

WEEK #2 – FAMILY TIES

In this second week of this message series, Fr. John reflects on the call that both St. John the Divine and St. George parishes will be coming together reverencing, honouring and respecting the traditions, histories and gifts of each community knowing that God will guide us to where we need to be.

WEEK #3 – FAMILY TIES

In this third and final week of the series, Fr. John teaches us that we will approach the challenges/changes as both parishes come together as opportunities to co-create something new.  Our FAMILY TIES remind us that we are responsible for one another, taking care of each other and making sure that we work together seeking input from everyone as we build this family.  We trust, listen and work together knowing that God is in control.
